**Please note: Studio policies are being updated and will take effect in August for new students. Families will receive written notice in advance. Thank you for your understanding!
Lessons are scheduled on a weekly basis at a mutually agreed-upon time. Lesson times are reserved exclusively for each student.
If you would like to reschedule a lesson, you can do so via text, email, or by using the Google Appointments. If using Google Apointments, make a note that the appointment is a rescheduled lesson when reserving time slot. Note that Thursday and Friday mornings are sometimes available for rescheduling but not reflected on the booking calendar. Please request any rescheduled lessons as soon as possible.
For new students, the initial lesson serves as a complimentary consultation to assess the student's needs and goals. Subsequent lessons are charged at a rate of $30 for a 30-minute session, $40 for a 45-minute session, and $50 for a 60-minute session. Payments for all lessons taken during the month should be made at the end of each calendar month upon receiving an invoice, regardless of the total number of lessons. Rates are subject to change with notice. Parents and students will be notified of rate adjustments at least 14 days prior to implementation. Accepted payment methods include cash, check, Venmo, and Paypal.
If a student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, they may reschedule the lesson within 30 days. Each student may cancel one lesson per calendar month without incurring a fee.
Any additional cancelled lessons in a month that are not rescheduled will incur a $15 cancellation fee per lesson. Rescheduled lessons must be completed within one month of the original lesson to avoid being charged the cancellation fee. While I will always do my best to accomodate rescheduled lessons, in the event that schedules don't permit rescheduling, the $15 fee will be charged the following month. There will be an expectation that lessons will be rescheduled whenever possible to support student progress and maintain consistency.
Late cancellations are lessons cancelled on the same day as the scheduled lesson. Late-cancelled lessons may be rescheduled; however, if a reschedule is not possible, the lesson will be forfeited and a $15 fee will be charged. Exceptions may be made in cases of emergency, at the teacher’s discretion. Rescheduled lessons must be completed within a month of the original lesson to avoid being charged the late cancellation fee. While I will always do my best to accomodate rescheduled lessons, in the event that schedules don't permit rescheduling, the $15 fee will be charged the following month.
If a student doesn't show for a lesson without notice, they will be given the opportunity to reschedule. If the lesson is not rescheduled, the full lesson amount will be charged.
If a lesson needs to be rescheduled, this can be done in a variety of ways:
The lesson may simply be moved to another available spot on the calendar.
If scheduling permits, two 30-minute lessons may be extended by 15 minutes or one 30-minute lesson may be extended by 30 minutes to make up for a cancelled lesson.
The lesson may be done virtually if circumstances permit.
If the student is unable to attend a rescheduled lesson, the lesson time may be passed to another student in the family.
Students are expected to arrive on time for their lessons. If a student is late, the lesson will end at the scheduled time to avoid disruptions in the studio schedule, unless otherwise decided by the teacher. If the teacher is late, the missed time will be made up either by extending the current lesson or at a later date.
Practice items will be assigned each lesson. Students are expected to practice regularly unless otherwise discussed and come prepared to each lesson with their music and any assignments completed.
Students are responsible for purchasing their own music books and any other necessary materials unless otherwise provided by the teacher. The teacher will provide recommendations as needed.
Open communication between the parents, student, and teacher is encouraged to ensure a productive and enjoyable learning experience. Parents and students (if permitted) may ask questions throughout the week via text. Any official studio communication regarding policy updates, travel, and recitals will be done through email.
Parents are strongly encouraged to sit in on lessons, especially for younger students, to help reinforce practice habits and ensure a supportive learning environment at home. If a parent or guardian cannot attend a lesson for any reason, a parental release waiver must be signed to allow lessons to continue in the absence of a parent or guardian. This waiver would be signed at the beginning of the lesson or ahead of time and brought to the lesson (file provided below).
If a student wishes to discontinue lessons, a notice of at least two weeks is required. This allows time to wrap up any ongoing work and provide a smooth transition.
